Happy New Year 2009
Well, I guess it's time to spring into a New Year. We had to meet it head on as it came so quickly. We usually head out to the Desert near Yuma, AZ for a fun week with our RV Boomer friends, but this year we stayed closer to home and took the RV to the Rose Parade. We've done this 5 times in the last 10 years. Wow, it's amazing to realize that Ken and I have been together for 10 years already. We knew we had to get to town a few days early to get a good corner parking spot, but we were a day later than we hoped. We can blame that on Sue's trip to Arkansas to spend Christmas with John and Steph and the girls. Bailey and Addie were happy to have "grandma sue" spend Christmas with them this year. It was our first Christmas together and we had such fun. You will see the pictures in our flickr account (flickr.com/photos/thepaces ) of the girls, their dad, and their uncle Patrick playing with "santas" game, the Wii. In fact, we all had fun with that game. We had major competitions in bowling, golf, tennis, baseball and wrestling. John stayed up all night practicing boxing so he could beat Bailey as she held the record. Addison was best in bowling and we all laughed up a storm everytime she rolled that ball. Strikes and spares almost all the time. it's amazing.
Back to the Rose Parade, and the event is also shown in our Flickr pictures. We got a fabulous spot on a corner, parked so we could even put out our slide. We had Ken's daughter,Susan, son in law, Sheldon, and grandkids, Amanda, Jacob and Sarah, join us for New Years Eve and day. We were squashed in the RV when it came to sleeping, but we all had fun anyway. We ate good food, had hot chocolate and lots of sweets. We bundled up and spent hours out on the sidewalk watching all the antics of the Parade goers. By morning, the place was jammed and noisy, and festive. The weather was great, the sun was shinning, and everyone was happy. What a great way to begin another year.
We anticipate lots of traveling this year. We have many plans for Rally, Escapades, visits to family and friends. The first being in Quartzsite, AZ for our "BoomerVille" Boomer Rang. We will write of our fun activities and happenings there as soon as they happen. Check back soon to keep up with our travels. Wishing all our family and friends a very Happy New Year.
