We enjoyed a relaxing and fun Easter weekend. We had family over for Saturday and went to other family on Sunday.
Sat. began with the Zhang kids coming over for an Easter Egg Hunt put on by our Rancho Carlsbad Park. They had fun getting face paintings, tattoos, pictures with the Easter bunnies, and getting balloon creations from a clown. After these exciting things we drove the golf cart to the house and played some games while waiting for the other guests. Sue's 2 son's Tom and Daniel arrived with April, Tom's wife. We waited for Ann to arrive but she sort of got the time mixed up and actually didn't arrive till after her brothers had already left. We enjoyed a good dinner prepared by Sue and a yummy bunny cake made by Nana, Julia. Everyone enjoyed the lively conversations and delicious food. Sue's friend Ann Woodard, and a good golf partner, came for lunch too. She seemed to enjoy the stories and banter between the kids. I just had to brag about our golf game from Friday where by I had 6 pars. That was a 1st for me.
We visited Ann when she arrived and even though she didn't stay long, it was nice to see her.
Sunday we attended church at 8am, only to hear from the Pastor that perhaps we in attendance had made the "better" choice of services as he was just thawing out from a sunrise service at the beach. There were over 3,000 people there, and it was cold and windy. About 50 gave their life to Jesus and were baptized in the freezing waters of Ponto Beach. What a glorious way to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. I was sort of glad we chose the later service inside, and did not have to deal with the weather and crowds. And besides, Sunrise never happened. It was drizzling instead.
Ken spent a couple hours being a tour guide (docent) at Leo Carrillo Ranch, and Sue tagged along to hear his stories about the historic ranch. We had a run away dog from the neighborhood chasing the peacocks and making them fly, while crying loudly, in groups overhead. That dog terrorized them for about 10 minutes until the owner caught up with him and leaped on top of him as he raced by chasing yet another flock of peacocks. It was a little excitement at the ranch on a rather quiet Sunday.
When Ken was finished there, we headed for Iva's new home in Rancho Bernardo, where Susan and family, and Rose, Myron and the twins were about to sit down for dinner. WOW, was Sue happy to see a huge plate of prime rib. She doesn't get red meat too often and it sure looked good. Everyone had a good meal and then went out doors to play croquet, and blow bubbles, and play an "old" game called string ball. That took amazing strength in the arms. Jacob got attacked by a prickly pear cactus and had to undergo "surgery of the hand", getting out about 10 spines. His dad did a fine job with tweezers and magnifying glass, and Jacob was very brave. After strawberry shortcake, and a fun game of "dog monopoly" with Sara, and Amanda, we left for home.
A very nice weekend with family and friends.
