Driving through Utah

We did a lot of hiking to get up to the tops of the lovely scenes. below on right is a natural bridge.
We had a lunch packed for todays hike. couldn't find any shade. after lunch we hiked 1 mile down to sit below one of the longest nat. bridges called the Sipapu
Watching the valley below for Ken who took a hike by himself. I was too tired to do more.
Ken "holding up" the Sipapu Bridge with one finger. We hiked and sat under the arch and enjoyed it's awsome beauty.
This structure was around 700 years old, used by early Pueblo Indian tribes until they "used up" all their resources. Dwellings stood on the Canyon rims and on top of large boulders. Draught may have driven them away from the area. today many of their structures still stand. We hiked 3 miles around the rim and down the canyon to see the remains of these communities.
Crossing the canyon at the bottom was steep and rocky.
Sue was laying under this bridge to get the best shot of the day.
Twin Towers of Utah
This dirt road was 10% downhill grade with many switchbacks. we came from top of plateau and down in altitude in 2 miles or so. it was a fun and interesting and white knuckle road. lucky we didn't have the RV. only the toad

We have enjoyed the roads and fabulous scenes throughout So. Utah. We have tried to visit all the Nat. Parks and Monuments along the way. Bridges Nat. Mon. and Arches Nat. Mon , and Hovenweep Nat. Mon. are all fantastic and so beautiful. The red rich soil and colors in all the rocks are awsome. you can see in all the pictures the beauty of this land. We did a lot of hiking, to reach and see all the arches and bridges and ancient ruins of the early dwellers. We drove a windy steep dirt road that had switchbacks and 10% grades taking us from the top of the plateu to the valley in under 3 miles. very exciting. Hope you enjoy my photos from Utah

I'm loving that you're sharing your trip. Southern Utah is my favorite, but it must be really hot there now. I can see how any hiking would poop you out. Nice pictures and descriptions.
